Typically when I’m asked to name my favorite “whatever” I panic. What if it’s not really my favorite because I forgot about something else!? What if I change my mind!? When it comes to naming my favorite things about creating websites I feel totally confident with my choice.
My number one, most favorite thing about creating websites is that they aren’t permanent. Now, this might sound like a bad thing, but let me explain why it is so, so good.
Reason 1: Errors.
If a phone number gets mistyped on a business card and goes to print, what happens? The designer has to fix and reprint, causing someone to have to eat the cost of the misprint. Errors on website? No problem! Log in, make the change, and carry on with your day.
Reason 2: Inevitable changes.
Despite how much time and money you spend on branding and strategizing, there is a good chance that something in your business is going to change and you are going to want to update all of your marketing channels. You already know what’s going to happen with the printed materials, but, again, the website is a piece of cake.
Reason 3: Analysis paralysis.
If you’re anything like me you think about things for a looonnnngggg time before taking action. I want to make sure I have all of my ducks in a row before I do anything, so I don’t have to go back and make changes. This doesn’t need to be an issue with websites. Websites can easily be edited and added to as my business grows and changes.
Although it is essential to strategize, prepare, and proofread before going live with your website, you shouldn’t let fear hold you back. Welcome to the wonderful world of the adaptable web!
